I am having a bit on trouble with excessive mixing down of heat into the depths of a reservoir I am modelling, increasing by up to 2 degrees vs the observations.
Without going too much into I have previously managed to get the model to produce a very good fit for observation for this reservoir without this issue, however I managed to lose these model runs. I have not been able to replicate these earlier succusses.
I am using the same forcing data, perhaps treated mildly differently regarding timestep used etc., as the successful runs. There are no inflows/outflows, the reservoir itself not having much water level change, and I have tried turning down the heat transfer coefficient and the same problem occurred.
It feels like I am missing something obvious. Could you offer any insights into potential options within the model where this error might be coming in from?
